Sculptra – by Galderma, is a bio-stimulating product that induces one’s body to produce new collagen, replacing the collagen lost due to normal ageing processes, and resulting in a more youthful and naturally rejuvenated look.
What Is Sculptra?
Sculptra is formulated with Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) which, when injected in suspension, induces a local tissue reaction whereby fibroblasts are activated to produce collagen and gradually restore volume to the skin. This process doesn’t occur instantaneously, but rather takes time to evolve and therefore results are progressive.
What To Expect?
Initially 2 treatments are needed, done 4 – 6 weeks apart. The area is numbed prior and each ±45 min treatment is performed by one of our Aesthetic Doctors, and involves a cannula needle being used to inject the product under the skin. Primary areas are the neck, jawline and cheeks.
Immediately after the procedure some change will be apparent due to the water content of the injections, and over the course of a month the skin takes on an increasingly luminous quality. At 3 – 6 months post-procedure the effects are seen and results in:
- Reduction in fine lines and wrinkles,
- Increase in skin density,
- Increase in skin firmness.
- Improved facial contours
- Improved skin tone and luminosity
Overall, the patient looks fresh, rejuvenated and more youthful than before.
